A Belgrade born composer has been enjoying the life and creative (and other) challenges of NYC for the past eight years. Praised and widely performed in her native Yugoslavia, she is gaining recognition in the US and internationally. Milica is one of Kyle Gann's Favorite Women Composers of All Time , New York Times called her "Parabaraba," a piece commissioned and performed by the New Juilliard Ensemble "the most captivating piece on the program." Among the artists and ensembles who have championed her music are The New Juilliard Ensemble, The Juilliard Dance Division, The New York Choreographic Institute, flutist Margaret Lancaster, percussionist Matthew Gold, and pianist Kathleen Supove, to name a few. Ms. Paranosic’s music has been performed in numerous venues throughout her native Yugoslavia as well as in the USA, Russia, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Croatia and Israel, and has been aired on radio stations of Switzerland, Romania, The Netherlands, USA, Russia, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Macedonia, Great Britain, Spain, Italy and Yugoslavia. Among the record labels that have released Milica's music are Electroshock Records and The New Sound. Milica's love for collaborations resulted in many collaborative relationships, such as an ongoing one with choreographer Charlotte Griffin and the "strikingly unusual" (Keith Bramich - Record box) group – “D'DIVAZ”. Milica has been on the faculty of The Juilliard School since 1995 where she teaches music technology. She is also the manager of the Music Technology Center and cofounder and producer of Beyond The Machine, A Festival of Electronic and Interactive Music. Milica holds a Bachelor's degree in composition from Belgrade Music University, and a Master's degree in composition from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Robert Beaser.
