Technomancer is the alias of one Roy J. Digre, a cyberpunk enthusiast hailing from the cold country of Northern Norway. For pretty much his entire life, Roy has had a fascination with both music and technology, having grown up in the 90's with computer technology advancing at an incredible rate, and so it only made sense for him to combine the two of his favourite things when in 2004 he decided to start making music on his home computer. After spending nearly a decade working with FL Studio and building his skills in production, in 2009 his first album De:Harmonized was released online by Ekleipsi, an Italian netlabel. The track Emulator garnered some attention and became a bit of a hit, featured on the compilation Synthematika One by Russian label Synthematik. The album cemented Technomancer's status as part of the new futurepop wave, although he personally considers his music to be "cyberpop". Though dissatisfied with Ekleipsi, he decided to self-release his music from then on and in 2010 he released the album 2, which got a lot of attention online. The album was far more pop oriented and a lot of the songs centered around love and relationships, very different from the more cerebral De:Harmonized album which took heavy inspiration from cyberpunk. He also started working with UK-based Max|Static on a sideproject called Laboratory 5, releasing their album "Resurrect & Reconnect" on Bandcamp in 2011. Laboratory 5 was a more experimental project that allowed Technomancer more room to find different genres to work with, culminating in the 2012 release "Rise Of The Machines" where he showed a much more free form dubstep-oriented style. 2011 saw the release of the album Mindspace which saw another evolution in his sound and production skills. The album was a bit of a concept album too, trying to tell a cohesive story rather than being a collection of songs. It was also a bit of a love letter to mind.in.a.box, borrowing heavily from their sound on tracks like Mindspace and If and seemed very inspired by their Dreamweb album. He got in touch with Per Aksel Lundgreen, known for having been a part of the early Apoptygma Berzerk and having his own projects Angst Pop, Cronos Titan and Chinese Detectives on his resume. Having been a huge fan of Apoptygma Berzerk all his life, since Welcome To Earth was the album that sparked his inspiration into full gear, and having paid homage to them on several occasions (most notably with a sample on De:Harmonized and spoken voice by Stephan Groth on Mindspace's Intelligent Design), it was a great honor for Roy to be working with Per Aksel. Together they made Ødipus Rex 2012, a brand new version of the classic Angst Pop track, produced by Technomancer. The Ødipus Rex 2012 EP hit number 5 on the European Alternative Charts, beating out artists like Madonna and 120 Days. Since then, Per Aksel Lundgreen and Roy J. Digre have worked together, producing several remixes together as Angst Pop and Technomancer and in 2013, the first official Technomancer album System Failure will be released on the label Emmo.Biz, co-produced by Per Aksel Lundgreen. Whatever the future might bring, one thing is for sure. "This is not the end... This is not the beginning of the end... IT IS THE END OF THE BEGINNING"
