South African hip-hop MC/producer, born in Johannesburg, Gauteng. Kanif first appeared on the South African hip-hop scene in '97 on the album "African Werewolf in Japan" by [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Elektron+(3)]Elektron[/url]. He has since produced for some of SA's dopest MC's such as [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Tha+Hymphatic+Thabs]Hymphatic Thabs[/url], [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Robo+(10)]Robo[/url], [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Shorty+Skills]Shorty Skilz[/url], [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gini+Grindith]Gin I Grindith[/url], [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Basemental+Platform]BMP[/url], [a=Jonzi D] and [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Bravestar]Bravestarr[/url] to name a few. He has also collaborated with some of SA's greatest jazz musicians such as Herbie Tsoaeli, [a=Sydney Mnisi] and Mduduzi Mtshali, as well as international artists such as the UK hip-hop/theatre icon [a=Jonzi D] and the U.S./Athens, GA based emcee, [a=Ishues]. With his signature smoky breakbeats and atmospheric soundscapes Kanif the JhatMaster creates music free from the conformities imposing on hip-hop culture.
