Cape Verdean singer and songwirter, born 1975 in Lisbon, Portugal and raised in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. His musical style is a combination of Hip-Hop/R&B mixed with Zouk, Kizomba and traditional music from Cape Verde. Growing up Nelson Freitas started making public appearances as a breakdancer together with his group before becoming a vocalist for well known Cape Verdean Zouk/R&B outfit Quatro, together with Nilton Ramalho, Nelson Oliveira and Adilson Ben David. The group made their first appearance in 1997 on the compilation "MOBASS presents..." with the song "Hoja em Dia", going on to release three albums "4-Voz" in 1998, which featured the hit single "Si bo cre", then changing their name after the inclusion of Nelson's brother Edson Freitas to [a=Quatro Plus], releasing "Bem Consché" in 2002 and "Ultima Viagem" in 2004. Nelson released his first solo album titled "Magic" in October 2006 with lyrics in both English and Cape Verdean creole, with the record going platinum in Angola. The album featured his hit single "Deeper", a duo with Kaysha. His duo with Chelsy Shantel for the Kizomba Brazil project "Boa Sorte" from 2008, a remake of the song by Vanessa da Mata and Ben Harper was one of the biggest Kizomba songs of the year. He released his second album "My Life" in 2010, which featured the single "Rebound Chick" and had guest appearances from the likes of William Araujo, MC Knowledje, Sanches Laisa and Anselmo Ralph.
