Boys Air Choir was founded in October 1996 in London with an objective to be the best quality boy's choir in the world. The choir's eight members (seven choristers and one choir master), with ages ranging from eleven to sixteen years old, were mostly chosen from among the best and brightest head choristers of such famous choirs as St. Paul's Cathedral, Salisbury Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. Because each boy has been carefully chosen and has great ability, the quality of the vocal ensemble is superb; it's a bona fide ensemble, despite its size. This kind of group is very unusual, and, as one would imagine, quite difficult to organize. As they're all school-age boys, the BAC can only make time for recording and promotional activities during their summer vacations. The BAC gave it's first concert in the summer of 1999 in Tokyo and was later engaged to perform four concerts in Japan for 2000. Their first album, 'Requiem' was released in october 1997 in Japan and has sold more than 50,000 copies to date in that country alone. The soloist of 'Requiem' was Connor Burrowes, who is now the BAC's choir master. He has been called "the greatest treble voice of the century" by critics in Japan and his native England.
