Phil Rizzuto (born September 25, 1917, Brooklyn, New York, died August 13, 2007, West Orange, New Jersey) was an American baseball player and later a sportscaster. Rizzuto, a shortstop for the New York Yankees from 1941 to 1956, is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. After retiring as a player Rizzuto served as a radio and television announcer for the Yankees from 1957 until 1996. He also served as the team's bunting instructor. Rizzuto had a brief turn as a rock star, providing a mock baseball play-by-play on the [a=Meat Loaf] song "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" from the 1977 album "Bat Out Of Hell".
