To recap the band's convoluted history, they began in 1967 as Uriel and made their sole album titled Arzachel in 1969. The band soon renamed themselves as Egg, releasing albums in 1970 and 1971. In 1972 they were re-named again as Khan, making one album that year called Space Shanty. Then they resumed using the name Egg, making one last album under that name before finally disbanding. The one constant in all the band versions was keyboardist Dave Stewart, while guitarist Steve Hillage was a member of Uriel and Khan. Further confusion arises with the debut album Arzachel. Uriel's contracted record company wouldn't release it, so they approached another company with the understanding that they'd omit the band's name from the album sleeve and label to avoid legal problems. This left only the title, so it was natural that people would assume that the title was in fact the band's name. This situation remained uncorrected on all subsequent reissues, until this latest reissue on Egg Archive/Burning Shed when the band name Uriel finally appeared on the album cover as it was always meant to. Finally, this 2007 collector's edition reissue clearly states Arzachel by Uriel. This is an official release by the members of Uriel/Egg/Khan on their Egg Archive label, so it's really the final word on a decades long misunderstanding with the naming of this album and band.
