Portland, Maine-based producer/multi-instrumentalist C Money Burns has been quietly putting together his unique brand of wistful, cosmic jazz harmonies intertwined with alien melodies, over-funked bass and intricate, hip hop-influenced beat programming since the mid-90's, often incorporating the talents of vocalists and other musicians from around the world. His music draws from disparate influences, from the Warp backcatalogue to 60's baroque chamber-pop to Serialist tone-poems, and could be described alternately as retro-futurist mathfunk, pulsing film-noir backdrop or bit-crushed rare groove depending on what you hear (and when you hear it). Burns' genre-spanning material, productions and remixes have been released on a number of independent and boutique labels worldwide, such as Milled Pavement, brick.city.media, Fuller/Essex, Gamble, Cornmeal and Portland Records, and has been featured in independent films, commercial productions and syndicated programming.
